etisalat money, the fintech arm of etisalat, has partnered with Visa to expand international money transfers from the UAE through Visa Direct.
The partnership will add four transfer options to the etisalat money app: Visa Direct to Card, Visa+ transfers using a recipient’s phone number, transfers from personal accounts to overseas business accounts, and SWIFT transfers.
The service will initially support transfers to India, Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, the United Kingdom and China. Digital wallets in several markets will also be available. The new options will complement etisalat money’s existing transfer service.
The platform is designed to support personal remittances and international payments for small businesses. According to the company, its current network reaches more than 150 countries through bank accounts, digital wallets and cash pickup.
The agreement was signed at Visa’s regional headquarters in Dubai. Melike Kara Tanrikulu, CEO of etisalat money, said cross-border transfers help individuals and businesses stay connected. Fadi Moukaddem, Visa’s senior vice president and group country manager for the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar, said the partnership will give customers more ways to send and receive money internationally.
