Egypt’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency has joined the “Basma Al Watany” program, which aims to prepare young people for entrepreneurship and self-employment.
The program, organised with the Basma Shabab Masr initiative, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other development partners, drew around 500 young men and women, according to the announcement.
Mustafa Hassan, CEO of the agency, said it is developing a broader range of non-financial services for entrepreneurs. These include training, support in selecting suitable small-business ideas, assistance with company establishment and development, and marketing services.
The agency’s participation focuses on introducing young people to its support services and building the skills needed to launch or expand businesses, particularly industrial and productive projects. It is also expected to take part in upcoming program activities planned across Egypt’s 27 governorates, with training linked to local economic opportunities.
Specialist agency trainers took part in the sessions, covering entrepreneurship, workforce needs, skills development and available support mechanisms.
Kirlos Habib, head of the Basma Shabab Masr initiative, said selected participants are expected to join an open entrepreneurship camp. The camp will work more deeply on business ideas and models, market needs, and preparing entrepreneurs to access funding and other forms of support.
