Fortinet and Saudi Aramco have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore cooperation on securing industrial systems in Saudi Arabia.
The agreement covers operational technology, including the systems used to operate industrial plants and equipment. The companies will assess potential work in localisation, cybersecurity research and development, and the adaptation of security solutions for industrial sectors.
They also plan to exchange knowledge, best practices and technologies to address emerging cybersecurity threats. Another area under discussion is the potential deployment of Fortinet Cloud services in Saudi Arabia.
The MoU also focuses on developing local cybersecurity capabilities. Possible initiatives include bootcamps, workshops and targeted training programmes, as well as access to Fortinet platforms for education and skills development.
Joe Sarno, Fortinet’s executive vice president of international sales, said the company aims to support more secure and resilient industrial environments while helping develop local cybersecurity skills.
Abdul Aziz S. Al Shafi, Aramco’s vice president of cybersecurity and chief information security officer, said the collaboration is intended to support cybersecurity innovation and expand local expertise.
