Abu Dhabi-based AI company G42 is exploring a potential majority stake sale to US investors or the creation of a new US entity, according to Bloomberg. The move could help it preserve access to advanced AI chips as its current approval window approaches an April 2027 deadline.
G42 can currently purchase advanced chips without a US license. After that period, it would need to meet new structural requirements to maintain access, making ownership and corporate restructuring central to its expansion plans.
Bloomberg reported that G42 executives have held preliminary discussions with potential US companies about taking a majority stake. Establishing a separate vehicle in the US is another option under consideration. Neither plan has been finalized, and G42 has not confirmed that a transaction is underway.
The company operates across cloud computing, data centers and AI applications. Its investors include Microsoft, Silver Lake and Abu Dhabi-based Mubadala Investment Company. G42 is also developing a 5-gigawatt UAE-US AI Campus in Abu Dhabi, with Nvidia supplying the semiconductors.
A change in ownership or corporate structure would deepen G42’s ties to US technology and capital while supporting its efforts to secure the chips needed for its infrastructure and AI ambitions.
