Jordan has launched Farah, an AI-powered digital spokesperson designed to help explain government policies and decisions to citizens and other interested parties.
Mohammad Momani, Minister of Government Communication and government spokesperson, announced the service on Thursday. According to the announcement, Farah is part of the government’s broader effort to modernise public communication and expand its use of digital technologies.
The service will provide government information through a digital communication channel, although authorities have not disclosed details about the underlying technology, supported languages, platforms or level of user interaction.
Farah marks a public-facing use of AI within Jordan’s government, rather than an internal administrative application. The government has not said whether the service will support interactive queries, personalised responses or integration with other digital government tools.
The accuracy and timeliness of the information behind the system will be important, particularly as Farah is intended to communicate official policies and decisions.
