Kingdom Holding Company has completed its acquisition of a 70% stake in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal Club Company from the Public Investment Fund (PIF) for $224M (SAR 840M). PIF retains the remaining 30% stake.
The transaction, agreed on April 16, was completed on September 1 after receiving the required regulatory approvals and no-objection clearances. The General Authority for Competition confirmed in July that it had no objection to the deal.
The acquisition gives Kingdom Holding majority ownership of one of Saudi Arabia’s most prominent sports clubs and marks a new phase in Al-Hilal’s privatization journey. It also adds to the Kingdom’s broader effort to introduce more institutional and commercially sustainable ownership models for its sports clubs.
Al-Hilal’s board said the new ownership phase will focus on sustaining growth, strengthening the club’s competitive and investment capabilities, and expanding its domestic and international presence while preserving its identity and legacy.
