Makani Incubator, operated by Ramallah Municipality, has launched the “Smart City: Solutions Start Here” challenge to support digital transformation and practical innovation in municipal services.
The challenge was introduced during an interactive dialogue attended by representatives of government institutions, local authorities, technology and digital transformation experts, and Ramallah Municipality officials. Discussions focused on the challenges and opportunities involved in developing smart cities, as well as the partnerships needed to create sustainable digital solutions.
The event included a session on smart city challenges and opportunities, followed by a presentation on using artificial intelligence in urban planning in Riyadh. A second session examined support and mentorship for entrepreneurs, including how startups can align digital solutions with the needs of government institutions and municipalities.
The training program that followed will bring together 20 entrepreneurs. Participants will study the challenges identified during the discussions, develop solution ideas and build prototypes for deployable digital products, according to the announcement.
The initiative aims to strengthen cooperation between municipalities, public institutions, the private sector and entrepreneurs while supporting the development of smarter and more sustainable Palestinian cities.
