Meta has launched Muse Code, a beta terminal-based coding agent designed to help programmers handle complex tasks across large software repositories.
According to the company, the tool can plan changes, write code and validate results across large code bases. It is powered by Meta’s Muse Spark coding model and can be installed with a single command.
Muse Code works by creating sub-agents that operate in parallel within isolated worktrees. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said this allows the agent to tackle large jobs without affecting a developer’s working copy. In testing, the system reportedly built six game features simultaneously without conflicts.
The release is part of Meta’s effort to compete more directly with coding tools from OpenAI and Anthropic. Alexandr Wang, Meta’s AI chief and head of Meta Superintelligence Labs, told The Wall Street Journal that the product could be a strong option for many workflows, particularly because of its cost.
Meta has been expanding its AI push beyond advertising. In June, it entered the enterprise AI market with an agent focused on customer service and support.
