Morocco and India have agreed to establish a joint commission to advance cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, digital transformation and digital skills.
The agreement was reached during talks in Rabat on August 24, 2026, between Morocco’s Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administration Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni and India’s Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada.
The commission will initially focus on language technologies, including solutions that support multiple languages, variants and dialects. The aim is to make digital government services more accessible and improve how citizens interact with public administrations.
The discussions also covered potential cooperation involving Morocco’s JAZARI Institutes and their work in AI, alongside broader opportunities in digital public infrastructure and talent development. No specific projects, funding commitments or implementation timelines were announced.
The talks build on a February 2026 meeting between the two ministers in New Delhi. The planned commission could provide a framework for developing practical projects, research, training and institutional partnerships, although the two sides have not yet announced specific programmes.
