Nvidia is reportedly in talks to invest in AI search startup Perplexity through a new funding round that could value the company at more than $30 billion, according to Reuters, citing The Information.
The proposed financing could be worth several billion dollars. It would mark a more than 50% increase from Perplexity’s previous valuation of about $20 billion a year ago. Neither company has confirmed an agreement, and the potential investment size and terms remain undisclosed.
The discussions come as Perplexity’s annualized revenue reportedly climbed from below $250 million at the start of 2026 to more than $750 million. Growth has partly been linked to Perplexity Computer, a cloud-based AI agent built to automate professional and computer-based tasks.
Perplexity provides direct, conversational answers supported by links to online sources and has expanded into tools for businesses, developers and professionals. Nvidia is already an investor, alongside Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, SoftBank Group, Accel and New Enterprise Associates.
The companies have also developed closer infrastructure ties. Earlier in 2026, Perplexity reportedly signed a $750 million agreement to use Microsoft’s Azure cloud services.
Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas has said the company is targeting an initial public offering in 2028. A valuation above $30 billion would further position the startup among the most valuable independent AI companies.
