OpenAI is introducing a more visual interface for ChatGPT, with interactive elements designed to help users explore information and understand complex topics.
The new interface, called Intelligent UI, can generate tappable buttons, task-specific calculators, interactive charts, editable graphs, diagrams and maps. In a demonstration for journalists, OpenAI showed visuals explaining how airplane wings generate lift, along with examples covering recipes, bicycle mechanics, hiking routes and personal savings.
Aarush Selvan, a product manager at OpenAI, said the company wants ChatGPT to provide more than text when users are planning, learning or completing everyday tasks.
The visual experience can be adjusted, allowing users to reduce the number of visuals in responses. According to OpenAI, Intelligent UI is rolling out globally with GPT-6 for Pro, Plus, Business and Enterprise users. It will also reach users on the free and lower-cost Go tiers on Thursday.
