Chinese AI startup Manus has raised more than $500 million in its first funding round since Meta’s planned $2 billion acquisition of the company was called off, according to an announcement from its parent company, Butterfly Effect.
Boyu Capital and IDG Capital led the round, with existing shareholders including Tencent, HSG and ZhenFund also participating. Manus said it will continue hiring in China and overseas.
The company did not disclose its post-money valuation. However, reports have placed it near $4 billion, which would make Manus one of China’s highest-valued AI agent companies.
Manus relocated staff to Singapore in 2025 before announcing the Meta acquisition in December. Chinese authorities later ordered the deal to be unwound amid concerns over the transfer of AI talent and research capabilities abroad.
The startup resumed independent operations in August. It has since launched Manus 2.0, built around a new internal architecture, and Cue, an app that gives AI agents email addresses, phone numbers, digital wallets and computers to complete tasks within user-defined limits.
Manus is also reportedly considering a future listing in Hong Kong.
