Orange Egypt has committed to investing €25 million in startups as part of its efforts to support Egypt’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, the company said during the Global Entrepreneurship Festival (GEF).

Hisham Mehran, CEO and managing director of Orange Egypt, also announced plans to launch an AI Accelerator aimed at helping turn promising ideas into viable projects. The company said the initiative will support startups and small and medium-sized businesses.

Orange Egypt is targeting 200,000 trainees through its youth development strategy. Its Orange Digital Centers currently operate in Cairo and Aswan, with a new location planned for Alexandria, alongside activities in the Delta and Red Sea regions.

The centers train students and graduates, support their ideas and may invest in selected projects. Mehran also highlighted the company’s digital platforms for small and medium-sized enterprises, describing digital transformation as a starting point for growth.

During a recent visit to Aswan, Mehran reviewed an Internet of Things project focused on smart homes. Orange Egypt said it is ready to support the prototype’s development and work with partners, including Mountain View, to help connect the project with market opportunities.

The third edition of GEF is being hosted in Egypt for the first time and brings together startups, large companies, investors and development partners.
