Palestine’s Ministry of Labour and the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) in Jericho have agreed to strengthen cooperation on women’s economic empowerment, vocational training, entrepreneurship and cooperatives.
The partnership aims to connect women with skills development, employment and decent work opportunities while supporting pathways to economic independence. Labour Minister Inas Al-Attari said stronger coordination with civil society, national institutions and the private sector is needed to align programs with women’s labour-market needs.
According to the ministry, it currently offers 74 vocational training programs through 14 centres across Palestine. Its employment initiatives, implemented with partners through the Palestinian Employment Fund, target women, youth and people with disabilities through training and job matching.
The ministry also highlighted support for small and micro-enterprises, cooperative projects and digital employment. Its AI-supported JobMatch platform connects jobseekers with employers, including for digital and remote work opportunities.
The two sides agreed to continue coordinating and organise an information day at the YWCA’s premises to introduce women to the ministry’s services and explain provisions of Palestinian labour law.
