Egyptian-Saudi real estate developer Paragon | Adeer has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Orange Egypt and global innovation platform Plug and Play to launch Egypt’s first dedicated AI Campus. The sprawling 500-acre project, located at the Sumou Boulevard development in New Cairo, is designed to become a regional hub for artificial intelligence innovation.
Quick Facts
- Spans 500 acres in New Cairo.
- Aims to develop 100 AI startups by 2030.
- Backed by Orange Egypt and Plug and Play.
Fueling 100 AI Startups by 2030
At the heart of the campus is the AI 100 Programme, a four-year initiative focused on nurturing 100 growth-stage AI startups in Egypt. The program, launched by Paragon | Adeer in partnership with Schneider Electric and Plug and Play, will provide founders with access to bootcamps, venture workshops, applied AI training, and capital readiness tracks.
By integrating these resources into a single ecosystem, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between Egypt’s deep tech talent pool and the infrastructure needed to build globally competitive companies. Plug and Play will leverage its international network to connect the Egyptian startups with global markets and investor communities.
Building the Digital and Sustainable Backbone
Orange Egypt will spearhead the development of the campus’s digital infrastructure. The telecom giant will deploy 5G connectivity, Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, and intelligent communication systems to create a fully connected environment built for innovation.
The campus itself is founded on three core pillars: AI and innovation, education, and energy efficiency. Schneider Electric will contribute its expertise in sustainable energy infrastructure, ensuring the project aligns with modern efficiency standards. The initiative supports Egypt’s national Digital Egypt Strategy and Vision 2030, positioning the campus as a key component of the country’s push to become a regional AI leader.
A Cornerstone of a $1.4 Billion Development
The AI Campus is a strategic anchor within the larger $1.4 billion Sumou Boulevard mixed-use development in Mostakbal City. The project, which spans over 500,000 square metres, combines residential, commercial, and hospitality elements. Paragon-Adeer is targeting revenues of 100 billion Egyptian pounds ($1.9 billion) from the wider development.
The official signing ceremony took place at the Grand Egyptian Museum and was attended by government officials and executives from Sumou Holding Group and Athar Holding Group, signaling strong public and private sector backing for the project.
