Saudi fintech PayTabs Group has agreed to acquire Amazon Payment Services’ Middle East and North Africa operations in a deal valued at more than $100 million, according to people familiar with the agreement cited by CNN Economics.
If completed, the transaction would combine Amazon’s regional payments business with PayTabs’ infrastructure. The merged operation is expected to process more than SAR 150 billion, or about $40 billion, in transactions annually.
The acquisition would expand PayTabs’ presence across MENA and add established merchant relationships and payments infrastructure to its existing network. The combined platform is expected to cover payment processing, automated transaction switching and payouts.
The companies have not disclosed the exact purchase price or transaction structure. Integration and operational continuity will be important because the businesses are connected to merchants, banks and financial institutions across markets with different payment methods, regulatory requirements and banking systems.
For PayTabs, the deal would accelerate its shift from a Saudi-founded fintech into a broader regional payments infrastructure provider. It also reflects increasing consolidation in MENA’s digital payments sector, where providers are competing to support merchants across multiple countries through a single platform.
