Qatar Chamber and UNIDO Develop Entrepreneurship and Innovation Model

Qatar Chamber and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) are developing an integrated Qatari model for entrepreneurship and innovation, with a focus on supporting women and young entrepreneurs.

The initiative aims to strengthen Qatar’s startup ecosystem and create mechanisms that can be adapted and scaled across the region and internationally, according to the announcement.

Discussions between Qatar Chamber board member and Qatari Businesswomen Forum chairwoman Ibtihaj Al Ahmadani and UNIDO Deputy Director General Fatu Haidara also covered women’s entrepreneurship and ways to expand partnerships with female entrepreneurs in other countries.

The partnership brings together Qatar Chamber’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center and UNIDO’s Investment and Technology Promotion Office. The chamber said the collaboration will support training, incubation, business acceleration and stronger links between startups, financing and markets.

The two sides are also adapting UNIDO’s Entrepreneurship Development and Investment Promotion (EDIP) methodology, currently implemented in 56 countries, to develop a Qatar-specific model. The approach is intended to support promising ventures, attract investment and help Qatar share entrepreneurship and innovation practices internationally.

A related training-of-trainers programme brought together 30 experts and representatives from Qatar’s public and private sectors and startup support institutions.
