Qatar’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has launched an upgraded version of the Mushaf Qatar app, adding an Intelligent Quran Assistant and new tools for memorisation, revision, recitation and interpretation.
The assistant allows users to search for meanings, request explanations of individual verses and receive responses to Quran-related questions. The ministry has not disclosed how the feature works, which sources it uses or what safeguards support its answers.
The app’s new memorisation system lets users track progress verse by verse, organise revision plans and monitor achievements over time. It also combines Quran reading with an audio library featuring Qatari and international reciters.
Users can access established commentaries by scholars including Al-Tabari, Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi. The ministry said the upgrade supports its digital transformation strategy and the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The addition of an interactive assistant to a government-backed religious platform highlights the importance of accuracy, source transparency and scholarly oversight when applying intelligent technology to Quranic interpretation.
