Saudi Arabia is advancing its tech and space cooperation with China, part of a strategic push to accelerate its Vision 2030 economic diversification goals. A high-level Saudi delegation, led by Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Chairman of the Saudi Space Agency, Abdullah Alswaha, visited Beijing to meet with top Chinese government officials and technology leaders.

Forging Alliances in AI and Digital Economy
During the visit, Minister Alswaha met with China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Li Lecheng. The discussions centered on expanding collaboration in artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and other emerging technologies. Key topics included localizing advanced technologies in the Kingdom and developing joint initiatives in telecommunications and advanced manufacturing.
Further talks were held with Wang Xing, Founder and Chairman of Meituan, to explore opportunities in AI-powered digital services. The conversation also covered potential partnerships in smart logistics and smart city applications, aiming to speed up the adoption of new technologies across Saudi Arabia.
Expanding The Kingdom’s Space Capabilities
In the space sector, Alswaha engaged with Zhou Jie, Chairman of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in space technologies and exploring opportunities to localize the industry within Saudi Arabia.
The dialogue also addressed building the Kingdom’s satellite manufacturing capabilities and speeding up knowledge transfer to support the nation’s growing space industry.

The series of meetings in Beijing underscores Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to build international partnerships while strengthening its domestic capabilities in high-growth industries.
