Quick Facts
- What: 9th Sharjah Investment Forum (SIF 2026)
- When: October 14-15
- Theme: “Building Adaptive Economies”
Navigating Global Shifts From AI to FDI
This year’s theme directly addresses a global business environment shaped by geopolitical developments, evolving supply chains, and the significant expansion of artificial intelligence. The forum agenda will focus on policies and partnerships needed to strengthen market resilience and create stable investment environments.
Discussions are expected to center on future readiness, digital transformation, and the development of knowledge-based economies. The event’s timing is critical, as a recent UNCTAD report noted that global foreign direct investment (FDI) fell by 11% for the second consecutive year. Meanwhile, McKinsey estimates generative AI could add up to $4.4 trillion annually to the global economy, highlighting the dual challenges and opportunities facing investors.
UAE Leadership on Economic Strategy
Top officials emphasized the UAE’s strategic approach to economic stability and growth ahead of the forum.
H.E. Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment of the United Arab Emirates, stated, “Resilience in the UAE has been built over decades of ambitious and deliberate policymaking that has established the country as a leading destination for global capital. The Forum’s theme reflects this ambition to continue shaping the future of investment, diversifying our economy, strengthening our global partnerships, and providing a globally competitive business environment.”
H.E. Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh, CEO of Invest in Sharjah, added, “The global economy is entering a new chapter, where periods of transformation create new opportunities for countries and businesses to redefine their competitive position. Those that anticipate change, invest in knowledge and innovation, and continuously strengthen their institutions will be best placed to turn global shifts into long-term growth and prosperity.”
Building on SIF 2025’s Global Reach
The previous forum, SIF 2025, which was held alongside the World Investment Conference, hosted over 12,000 participants from 142 countries. The event featured more than 130 ministers and international leaders across 160 sessions, cementing Sharjah’s position as a key platform for international economic dialogue.
