Sheikh Hazza Highlights Universities’ Role in Advancing Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the UAE

Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain, has highlighted the role of national universities in building an entrepreneurship and innovation culture among students and researchers.

His comments came during a meeting with a delegation from Khalifa University of Science and Technology, led by its president, Professor Ibrahim Saeed Al Hajri. The delegation presented the university’s research programmes, scientific initiatives and contributions to industrial and vital sectors.

According to the announcement, the university is working to translate academic research into practical applications, commercial projects and solutions for local production through partnerships with industry.

Sheikh Hazza also stressed the importance of accelerating the transfer of knowledge and technology to the market to support economic diversification and sustainable development in Al Ain. The meeting covered the role of the university’s laboratories and research facilities in developing future technologies, linking research outputs to market needs and attracting international expertise and partnerships.

The delegation also outlined the work of the university’s research centres, including efforts focused on graphene and two-dimensional materials, as well as advanced research and innovation.
