More than 2,000 developers, engineers, students and entrepreneurs attended SYNC’26, a two-day technology and entrepreneurship conference held at the Damascus Opera House.
Organized by SYNC in coordination with Syria’s Ministry of Communications and Technology, the conference brought together experts from Syria and abroad, including representatives of technology companies based in Germany, Canada and the Gulf states.
Sessions covered artificial intelligence, digital transformation, electronic payments and strategies for developing technical talent. Discussions also focused on connecting Syrian professionals with international expertise and strengthening links between the technology sector and the country’s business environment.
The event concluded with a memorandum of understanding between Syriatel and ride-hailing company Yalla Go to cooperate on electronic payments and mobility services. According to the announcement, the agreement will support the exchange of expertise and digital economic development.
SYNC executive committee member Anton Al-Najjar said the organization aims to help Syrian youth enter the digital labor market through partnerships with universities, academic institutions and companies.
Communications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Salam Haykal said the ministry was working to improve telecommunications infrastructure, expand global connections and create opportunities for Syrian technology professionals at home and abroad.
