Syria’s Ministry of Economy and Industry has launched the “Made in Syria” program to strengthen confidence in locally produced goods and support their access to domestic and international markets.
Unveiled at the 63rd Damascus International Fair, the national program evaluates products based on industrial origin, compliance, quality and local content. The program’s logo is granted only after products meet the required registration and certification standards, according to Majd al-Barad, its director.
Manufacturers begin by registering products through the program’s digital platform. This is followed by technical reviews and field visits to verify that actual production takes place in Syria. The process also examines changes to raw materials, including whether they are locally sourced or imported and whether they alter the product’s customs classification.
The program links each approved product to its manufacturing facility and production line. The company said this approach is intended to encourage higher quality and improve the ability of Syrian products to reach export markets.
The “Made in Syria” pavilion at the fair is showcasing local products to domestic and international audiences. The event runs through September 4 and includes nearly 1,000 participating entities representing about 60 countries.
