Syria’s Ministry of Tourism has signed a memorandum of understanding with Saudi technology firms Tamkeen, Cipher and Hawaz to support the digital transformation of the country’s tourism sector.

Signed in Damascus on 24 July 2026, the agreement covers a unified digital platform for tourism services and bookings, as well as a national portal featuring information on destinations, attractions and events across Syria.

The initiative also includes cybersecurity measures, data governance frameworks and systems for collecting and analysing tourism data. According to the announcement, these tools are intended to support more evidence-based planning and improve institutional performance.

The programme will additionally involve destination marketing campaigns targeting regional and international visitors, alongside training for tourism professionals. The three Saudi companies are expected to contribute expertise in digital transformation, government technology, cybersecurity and institutional modernisation.

Tourism Minister Mazen Al-Salhani said the project is intended to help build a more competitive and resilient tourism sector through integrated digital services, trusted data and stronger governance.
