Egyptian Industry Minister Khaled Hashem has called on IE University to expand its presence in Egypt and increase its programs focused on industrial innovation and entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the IE University Middle East and Africa Alumni Summit in Cairo, Hashem said stronger links between academia and industry would help develop skilled talent and support productive employment.
He described human capital development and industrial growth as closely connected, with education building skills while the Industry Ministry creates opportunities for people to contribute to economic development.
Hashem said Egypt’s industrial strategy aims to strengthen the country’s integration into global supply chains through smart localisation, deeper local manufacturing and higher value-added production. Achieving those goals, he added, will require cooperation between government, industry, universities and a skilled workforce.
The minister also highlighted the need for continuous learning as technology advances, alongside updates to regulations that may no longer reflect changing economic and industrial conditions.
Hashem, who is an IE graduate, said he looked forward to developing new partnerships with the university to support the competitiveness of Egypt’s industrial sector.
