Talabat Egypt has officially opened the largest express commerce distribution center in the Middle East and North Africa, a move set to significantly upgrade the country’s logistics infrastructure. The massive facility was developed in partnership with Hassan Allam Utilities and inaugurated by Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hindi.

Quick Facts

  • MENA’s largest express commerce facility.
  • Operational capacity up to 1 million items daily.
  • Developed in partnership with Hassan Allam Utilities.

A Tech-Driven Logistics Powerhouse

Located within the Yanmu East Logistics Complex on the Cairo-Suez Road, the center spans approximately 27,000 square meters. Its operations are powered by integrated, real-time systems that connect inventory, retail, and supply chains. Talabat is also using internally developed artificial intelligence models to forecast demand, optimize inventory distribution, and automate key processes, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce operational losses.

The facility currently serves 100% of Talabat Mart’s network across 12 cities in Egypt, with plans to extend coverage to 17 cities soon. This expansion signals the company’s strong push into the rapidly growing express commerce segment.

Bolstering Egypt’s Digital Economy

During the inauguration, Minister Raafat Hindi stated the project reflects growing investor confidence in Egypt’s digital economy. He highlighted that Talabat’s technology-driven logistics hub underlines the country’s attractiveness for e-commerce investments, supported by the development of its digital infrastructure.

Hindi also noted that Talabat’s reliance on its tech and shared services center in Egypt is a clear vote of confidence in local talent. Egyptian teams are responsible for application development and customer support for the company’s regional markets, with the Egypt-based team delivering 74% of the company’s shared services.

Designed for Scalability and Market Expansion

The distribution center was designed with future growth in mind. It currently holds around 75,000 storage locations but has the capacity to double that figure within its existing footprint, eliminating the need for further physical expansion to support increased demand.

The center is also expected to support local producers, suppliers, and small retailers by providing better access to advanced logistics infrastructure. This access can help smaller businesses grow by improving product availability and enabling more competitive pricing for customers.
