4 Min Read

The UAE Government has officially launched its first group of specialized AI agents, moving its ambitious plan to integrate artificial intelligence into public services from strategy to live operation. The announcement was made at a national Agentic AI Retreat in Abu Dhabi, attended by Vice President and Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and over 400 senior officials.

Quick Facts

  • First four AI agents now operational.
  • Targeting 50% of government services within two years.
  • ADNOC already deploys over 115 AI agents.

Meet the First Four Government AI Agents

The initial deployment targets four high-volume government functions where autonomous AI is expected to deliver immediate and measurable results. These agents are designed to handle specific, complex tasks without direct human intervention.

The Procurement AI Agent is built to streamline sourcing and optimize workflows, increasing speed and efficiency for government procurement teams.

The Tax Auditing AI Agent will improve data verification and tax review processes, aiming to increase compliance rates and reduce audit turnaround times.

For public-facing services, the Customer Happiness AI Agent provides government service staff with rapid access to information, enabling faster and more accurate responses to citizen inquiries.

Finally, the Technical Support AI Agent will manage IT services and help technical teams resolve system issues more effectively, ensuring the stability of digital government platforms.

ADNOC Provides the Blueprint for Scale

State-owned oil giant ADNOC offered a powerful case study on the real-world impact of agentic AI. In a keynote, H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Group CEO, revealed that the company now uses over 115 AI agents in core functions like HR, finance, and procurement.

ADNOC has trained some 20,000 employees to build their own job-specific AI models, resulting in 3,000 active models used daily. This has pushed agentic AI utilization to 80% across the organization, demonstrating a successful model for large-scale adoption.

A Push for Global AI Leadership

The strategic importance of the initiative was emphasized by Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for AI, who positioned the adoption of agentic AI as critical for global competitiveness. He stated that early adopters are set to lead international governance and competitiveness rankings.

This launch is a key part of a national framework approved in April, which aims to deploy agentic AI across half of all government services and operations within two years. The framework established a dedicated task force to oversee the transition, with government leaders being assessed on their speed and effectiveness in adopting the technology.

About the UAE Agentic AI Programme

The UAE Agentic AI Programme is a national initiative designed to integrate autonomous AI systems across the federal government. Its primary goal is to deploy agentic AI in 50% of all government services and operations within two years of its April 2026 launch. The program focuses on improving efficiency, service quality, and positioning the UAE as a global leader in AI-driven governance.
