The Realistic Optimist will host a webinar on September 11 exploring how investors assess startups in Iraq and what founders need before seeking capital.
“Investing in Iraq: What Investors Look For and What Founders Need to Know” will take place online via Zoom from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM GMT+2.
Rabel Kaka, Middle East Ambassador at The Realistic Optimist, will moderate a discussion with Hady El Samra, Head of Investments and Programs at Iraq Venture Partners, and Saif Aljaibeji, Founder and Managing Director of Urth, a $50M growth fund.
The session will cover founder assessment, traction, financial readiness, valuation, governance, legal preparation and Iraq-specific market and regulatory risks. Speakers will also discuss potential exit routes and sectors attracting investor interest.
The event is aimed at Iraqi founders raising capital, regional and international investors assessing the market, startup operators, ecosystem builders, accelerators and policymakers. The discussion will also look at what Iraq’s ecosystem needs to attract deeper regional and institutional investment.
