Yemen’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce is signaling a deeper commitment to the country’s nascent startup ecosystem, following a high-level meeting in Aden with the organizing team behind TEDxAdenYouth. Minister Dr. Mohammed Al-Ashwal discussed potential collaboration and state-level support for initiatives designed to foster youth innovation and entrepreneurship in the temporary capital.

Government Commits to Youth Empowerment

During the meeting, Minister Al-Ashwal reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to backing programs that empower young Yemenis, stressing the importance of investing in their capabilities as a cornerstone for a sustainable economic future.

He commended the TEDxAdenYouth team for their work in organizing events that stimulate creativity and initiative among the youth. The Minister highlighted that such activities provide a critical platform for showcasing young talent and directing it towards productive and innovative ventures.

A Platform for Aden’s Innovators

The TEDxAdenYouth team presented their vision for the upcoming event, which operates under an independent license from the global TED platform. The core objective is to spotlight inspiring young role models and cultivate a stronger environment for innovation in Aden.

The event aims to create an interactive space connecting entrepreneurs with investors and policymakers. This direct engagement is intended to expand investment opportunities and contribute to building a knowledge-based economy. The team is targeting an audience of 150 to 200 participants for the event scheduled for June 27, 2026.
