Top religious affairs officials from the United Arab Emirates and Egypt have met to explore strengthening their partnership, with a key focus on integrating digital technology and artificial intelligence into the field of issuing fatwas (Islamic rulings).
A High-Level Strategic Meeting
The dialogue took place in Cairo, on the sidelines of the conference, “The Making of a Competent Mufti in the Digital Age.” The meeting was led by Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the UAE’s General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, and Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, the Grand Mufti of Egypt. They were joined by senior officials from both countries, including the Chancellor of Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities and the Acting Secretary-General of the Emirates Fatwa Council.
