Ooredoo Tunisia has hosted the first edition of the Ooredoo AI Summit, a landmark event designed to accelerate Tunisia’s digital transformation by bringing together key industry leaders, policymakers, and technology experts. A key outcome of the summit was the announcement of a strategic collaboration with NVIDIA to provide sovereign AI-as-a-Service capabilities within the country.
A Strategic Push For Digital Sovereignty
The summit was opened by Tunisia’s Minister of Communication Technologies, Sofiene Hemissi, who emphasized that artificial intelligence presents a strategic opportunity for the nation to enhance its digital sovereignty, empower its youth, and drive inclusive economic growth. He commended Ooredoo’s initiative for fostering collaboration between government bodies, local partners, and emerging talent. Mansoor Rashid Al-Khater, CEO of Ooredoo Tunisia, reiterated this commitment, stating, “Our ambition is to place Tunisia at the center of the global digital revolution by investing in AI-ready infrastructure.”
Democratizing AI With NVIDIA Collaboration
The most significant announcement from the event was Ooredoo’s collaboration with NVIDIA. Through this partnership, Ooredoo will acquire high-performance GPUs to build a cutting-edge platform for advanced AI solutions. This sovereign AI-as-a-Service will be made available to the government, startups, and B2B clients, giving them access to world-class capabilities to accelerate innovation and develop new services for the market. Ooredoo Tunisia has already started deploying agentic AI use cases within its own operations to enhance customer experiences.
Convening The AI Ecosystem
The Ooredoo AI Summit served as a premier platform for high-level dialogue, featuring insightful panel discussions with leaders from across the AI landscape. Prominent speakers included Karim Beguir, Co-Founder of Tunisian-founded global AI company InstaDeep, who shared his success story, and Ahmed Mostafa from NVIDIA, who discussed the role of AI-as-a-Service in democratizing technology. They were joined by leaders from Google, Decathlon, and major Tunisian enterprises, who enriched the debate with diverse perspectives on governance, innovation, and the future of AI in Tunisia.
