Riyadh’s premier business and lifestyle destination, the King Abdullah Financial District Development and Management Company (KAFD DMC), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Samsung Electronics to explore and implement integrated smart city technologies. This strategic partnership aims to enhance the digital experience for the district’s businesses, tenants, and visitors, reinforcing KAFD’s position as a hub for innovation and collaboration.

A Strategic Push for a Connected Urban Hub

The collaboration with Samsung will focus on advancing KAFD’s smart city infrastructure by exploring the potential integration of enterprise-grade solutions. Key areas of focus include sophisticated access control, dynamic digital signage, and other smart, centralized systems designed for real-time infrastructure and asset monitoring. This partnership lays the foundation for making the urban district more efficient, sustainable, and human-centric. Additionally, the MoU includes plans for a potential new Samsung experience center within the district, which would offer exclusive benefits and discounts to the KAFD community.

Building on a Foundation of Innovation

This partnership is the latest in a series of strategic moves by KAFD to establish itself as a leading global smart district. It is the first neighborhood in the MENA region to achieve WiredScore’s Global Smart Neighborhood Certification. KAFD has also previously launched a Smart WiFi-7 service in Saudi Arabia through an agreement with Huawei and has pilot programs underway with the artificial intelligence firm SenseTime. The collaboration with Samsung builds on this strong technological foundation, further aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Aligning with Vision 2030

Both parties highlighted the significance of the partnership in achieving national objectives. Sultan Alshahrani, Chief Corporate Officer at KAFD DMC, stated, “Our partnership with Samsung will unlock a new wave of enhancements and innovations, enhancing experiences and quality of life in line with Saudi Vision 2030.” Hendrik Lee, President of Samsung Electronics Saudi Arabia, added, “This fruitful collaboration with KAFD represents a key step and a new milestone in our strategy that aims at supporting Saudi Arabia’s vision and its transformation into a global hub for innovation.”
