EPIC Semi has announced the launch of its Saudi-rooted semiconductor portfolio, establishing itself as the Kingdom’s first fabless chip company specializing in designs for artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and edge systems. The launch, which took place at an event in Riyadh, marks a significant step in localizing advanced technology industries in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
Introducing the EPIC Stack
The company is focused on enabling a national chip industry through its proprietary EPIC stack, which covers four main categories designed to address the full spectrum of modern computing needs. The portfolio includes EPIC Echelon for low-latency edge AI, EPIC Pegasus for physical AI and computer vision in robotics, and EPIC Ionos for secure IoT and multi-network connectivity.
Powering the AI Data Center
A key component of the launch is the EPIC Contrail portfolio, specifically engineered for cloud-based AI architecture and data centers. This suite features Contrail Flash, a PCIe Gen5 SSD tailored for demanding AI workloads, and Contrail Compute, a CPU+AI chip capable of running large language models (LLMs) such as DeepSeek and LLaMA. The portfolio is completed by Contrail Cool, a rack-level liquid cooling system designed to reduce power consumption and improve efficiency in data centers.
Bolstering National Tech Autonomy
Dr. Naveed Sherwani, CEO of EPIC Semi, stated that the company aims to strengthen the Kingdom’s technological independence and empower local and global partners in AI and smart manufacturing. This initiative is poised to create high-skill jobs and enhance Saudi Arabia’s export capabilities in advanced technologies, supported by the National Semiconductor Hub.
