The 11th edition of Syria HighTech, the nation’s largest technology exhibition and conference, is set to take place from November 20 to 24, 2025, at the Damascus Fairgrounds. The event will convene over 223 companies from 10 countries, including significant participation from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Oman, to showcase innovations and drive investment in Syria’s burgeoning digital economy.
A National Vision for Digital Transformation
The event underscores a concerted effort by Syria to rebuild and modernize its digital infrastructure, positioning itself as a rising hub for technology and collaboration in the Levant. Speaking at the official press conference, His Excellency Mr. Abdulsalam Haykal, Mi
ister of Communications and Information Technology, outlined the strategic importance of the gathering.
“Syria HighTech represents more than an exhibition; it is a national meeting point for innovation, investment and cooperation,” stated H.E. Haykal. “Our goal is to build a digital ecosystem where local companies can grow through meaningful partnerships with global technology providers. This continuous collaboration between the public and private sectors is essential for achieving a sustainable and inclusive digital transformation.”
The conference aligns with the Ministry’s 2025 ICT strategy, which prioritizes strengthening digital infrastructure, attracting international partnerships, and empowering local innovators to build a sustainable and inclusive digital economy.
Major Infrastructure Projects Unlocking Investment
Syria HighTech 2025 arrives amidst several major national initiatives designed to create an advanced telecommunications ecosystem, opening significant opportunities for regional telecom operators, infrastructure developers, and technology investors.
Key projects highlighted include:
- The SilkLink Project: A 4,500 km optical-fibre backbone designed to link major Syrian cities and establish a strategic data corridor between Asia and Europe.
- The Ugarit 2 Project: A modernization of a 30-year-old submarine cable in partnership with UNIFI, the Syrian Telecommunications Company, and the Cyprus Telecom Authority, which is expected to double the country’s internet capacity.
- The BarqNet Initiative: A public-private partnership developed with Arthur D. Little aiming for 85% fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) coverage by 2027.
Fostering A Regional Innovation Hub
With a young, skilled, and cost-competitive workforce, Syria is working to establish itself as a promising destination for outsourcing, software development, and digital entrepreneurship. The government’s focus on skills training and start-up support, combined with the engagement of the Syrian diaspora, aims to integrate the country into the regional and global ICT supply chain.
The event will feature dedicated investment forums and B2B matchmaking sessions to forge practical partnerships between international technology providers, regional investors, and local operators. Opportunities span telecom infrastructure modernization, the rollout of 4G and 5G networks, e-government, and fintech solutions tied to national reconstruction efforts.
