A landmark partnership agreement was signed in Amman between Morocco’s Federation of Business and Professional Women (FFCEM) and Jordan’s Business and Professional Women’s Forum (BPW-A). The collaboration aims to significantly enhance women’s empowerment and bolster their role in entrepreneurship across both nations.
The agreement was formalized by Fatiha Othman, President of the Federation of Business and Professional Women in Morocco, and Reem Samir Al-Baghdadi, President of the Administrative Board of the Business and Professional Women’s Forum in Jordan.
A Strategic Alliance For Empowerment
The core objective of this agreement is the economic, social, cultural, and educational empowerment of women. This will be achieved through targeted training, mentorship, awareness campaigns, and dedicated support, in cooperation with relevant authorities in both countries.
The partnership also aims to strengthen the role of women in entrepreneurship, leadership, and decision-making roles. It seeks to foster deeper economic and social ties between business and professional women in Morocco and their counterparts in Jordan, building a powerful cross-border network.
Fostering Cross-Border Economic Ties
During the signing ceremony, Fouad Akhrif, Morocco’s Ambassador to Jordan, highlighted the agreement as a “fruit of collective efforts” that will pave the way for joint programs and knowledge exchange. He noted that this partnership adds to the strong legal framework governing relations between the two kingdoms, which has been elevated to a “multi-dimensional strategic partnership” under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and King Abdullah II.
The Ambassador called upon private sector actors and entrepreneurs in both countries to capitalize on the economic momentum and investment opportunities available, given the strategic geographic locations of Morocco and Jordan in Africa and Asia, respectively.
Strengthening Connectivity and Collaboration
Jumana Ghunaimat, Jordan’s Ambassador to Morocco, emphasized the historic ties between the nations and pointed to significant opportunities for deeper collaboration, particularly in boosting women’s economic participation. She advocated for creating communication platforms and networking opportunities for businesswomen to explore joint ventures in training and entrepreneurship.
Significantly, the recent relaunch of a direct flight route between Casablanca and Amman was cited as a critical step in revitalizing economic, trade, tourism, and human relations, providing the logistical backbone for such collaborative initiatives.
