A delegation from Oman’s Defense College has visited Jordan’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship to study the Kingdom’s successful strategies in digital transformation and fostering a vibrant entrepreneurship ecosystem. The visit underscores a growing trend of intra-regional collaboration as MENA nations look to share best practices for building knowledge-based economies.
A Strategic Knowledge Exchange
During the visit, directors from the Jordanian ministry presented a comprehensive overview of their key projects and initiatives that support the nation’s digital journey and startup landscape.
Samira Al-Zoubi, Secretary-General of the Ministry, emphasized the deep-rooted relationship between Jordan and Oman, highlighting a mutual commitment to expanding cooperation. She outlined how the ministry’s work is pivotal in establishing a robust digital economy that directly fuels the growth of its entrepreneurial sector through sustained collaboration with government and private sector partners.
Jordan’s Digital Economy Pillars
The Omani delegation received insights into the core strategic pillars that form the foundation of Jordan’s digital economy. These include the development of advanced infrastructure, upskilling the workforce with relevant digital competencies, and actively promoting entrepreneurship.
Further pillars discussed were the enhancement of financial services through technology and the launch of national digital platforms, all designed to create a seamless and supportive environment for innovation and business growth.
Highlighting a Mature Startup Hub
The ministry officials highlighted Jordan’s position as a leading innovation hub in the region. The country’s ICT sector boasts significant growth potential, supported by a highly qualified talent pool, secure infrastructure, and an investment-friendly legislative framework with attractive incentives.
It was noted that Jordanian entrepreneurs have consistently demonstrated their ability to achieve significant success on local, regional, and global stages. Numerous Jordanian startups have successfully expanded beyond the Kingdom’s borders, creating compelling success stories that have attracted major investments and acquisitions from regional and international firms.
