Syria’s SEED Becomes Official Agri-Food Incubator For Damascus University

3 Min Read

SEED, the first specialized incubator for agricultural and food entrepreneurship in Syria, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Damascus University. Under this collaboration, SEED officially becomes the designated incubator for the Faculty of Agriculture at Damascus University, one of the oldest and most prestigious academic institutions in the MENA region.

Bridging Academic Research And Market Reality

The partnership is designed to transform academic theories into viable commercial ventures by merging the university’s research capabilities with SEED’s practical entrepreneurial expertise. Managed by a group of active founders already operating within the food and beverage sectors, SEED provides an industry-first perspective on local market challenges. This collaboration aims to empower young researchers and students to transition their innovations from the laboratory to the local and regional markets.

From Seed To Startup

Through its “Seed to Market” methodology, the incubator provides comprehensive support for early-stage projects, guiding them from initial ideation and prototyping to the launch of their first product. By establishing a presence within the Faculty of Agriculture, SEED intends to provide a real-world platform for a new generation of innovators focused on creating sustainable and efficient food systems. This initiative is a critical step in revitalizing the “Made in Syria” brand by focusing on quality and modern production standards.

Launching The Agri-Food Startup Bootcamp

Following the signing of this strategic alliance, SEED announced that its first major program of the year—the Food and Agri-Sector Startup Bootcamp—will launch soon. This program will offer intensive training, mentorship, and market access for participants, specifically targeting startups that address food security and agricultural productivity. The goal is to build a self-sustaining ecosystem that supports local production and reduces reliance on external food supply chains.
