The 6th of October Investors Association has announced the launch of its “Women and Female Entrepreneurs Unit,” a new initiative aimed at empowering women in the investment sector and bolstering the growth of family-owned and startup businesses across Egypt. The unit, led by association board member Dr. Abeer Essam, held its inaugural meeting to establish a foundational action plan to support and elevate female business leaders.

The first meeting brought together a distinguished group of businesswomen, academics, and researchers from various industrial and service sectors to exchange expertise and formulate practical strategies for supporting women-led projects.

A Strategic Economic Imperative

Dr. Abeer Essam, head of the new unit, emphasized that its creation is not merely an organizational step but an economic necessity. She stated that the goal is to support a new generation of female talent capable of innovation, creativity, and exporting across diverse investment fields.

The action plan focuses on creating a stimulating environment that merges the experience of established businesswomen with the ambition of emerging entrepreneurs and SMEs. By building bridges for collaboration and networking, the unit aims to foster integration and shared growth among its members’ ventures.

Fostering Collaboration and Access to Finance

The unit will operate across Egypt’s investor associations to strengthen cooperation with key stakeholders, including universities, business federations, the banking sector, and donor agencies. A primary objective is to provide accessible financing solutions and programs tailored for women-led projects.

Furthermore, the initiative will offer technical support and training opportunities focused on innovation and digital transformation, aiming to enhance the competitiveness of women’s products in both local and export markets.

Advocacy and International Reach

A key function of the unit will be to represent the interests of businesswomen before governmental and legislative bodies, ensuring a fair and equitable business environment. It will also focus on providing support for the next generation of leaders within family-owned companies.

Dr. Essam stressed the importance of increasing the participation of female entrepreneurs in international and Arab economic collaborations. The unit will work to position them as key contributors to the economy and investment by securing their representation in bilateral business councils, trade missions, and international cooperation committees.
