The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently held its annual ceremony, bringing together strategic partners, media professionals, and employees to celebrate a year of significant achievements and to inaugurate the new Sharjah Chamber Museum. The event underscored the Chamber’s pivotal role in bolstering the emirate’s economic development and fostering institutional excellence.
A Year of Significant Growth
The ceremony highlighted the robust expansion of Sharjah’s business community. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, announced that Chamber memberships grew by 14% year-on-year to exceed 76,000. This includes over 8,300 new companies joining and more than 67,000 membership renewals.
Al Owais stated that the recognition reflects the SCCI’s commitment to operational excellence. He also noted that the Chamber issued more than 90,000 certificates of origin, providing critical support for international trade and reinforcing Sharjah’s position as a global business hub.
Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of the SCCI, attributed the Chamber’s success to its workforce’s diligent execution of strategic initiatives, noting that the rising membership across industrial, commercial, and professional sectors showcased the efficiency of the SCCI’s service framework.
Expo Centre Sharjah’s Milestone Year
The event also spotlighted the exceptional performance of Expo Centre Sharjah. Al Midfa described the past year as a milestone, marked by the successful launch of new exhibitions like the Evolve Future Mobility Show and the Middle East Cosmetics Show.
The centre hosted 17 major events in the fourth quarter alone, representing a 70% annual increase, and attracted an impressive three million visitors throughout the year. Looking ahead, Expo Centre Sharjah plans to host over 95 global events in the coming year.
Inaugurating the Sharjah Chamber Museum
A central highlight of the ceremony was the official launch of the Sharjah Chamber Museum. Located at the Sharjah Old Cars Club, the museum chronicles the Chamber’s history, key milestones, and its profound economic contributions to the emirate.
The museum is designed to serve as a vital reference platform for researchers, investors, and stakeholders interested in Sharjah’s business landscape and economic evolution.
Recognizing Ecosystem Contributors
Reinforcing its commitment to partnership, the SCCI recognized top-performing employees across categories like Exceptional Employee, Administrative Excellence, and Innovative Idea.
Under the theme “Voice for Media,” the ceremony also honored media professionals for their role in highlighting Sharjah’s economic activity and the Chamber’s initiatives, emphasizing the goal of strengthening collaborations to enhance the emirate’s competitiveness.
