Alibaba Cloud Showcases Global AI Integration Across Diverse Industries

5 Min Read

Alibaba Cloud, the digital and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, has highlighted a series of international success stories, demonstrating how its full-stack AI and cloud capabilities are driving innovation for enterprises worldwide. The company’s comprehensive AI offerings—spanning infrastructure, its Qwen large language model family, and development platforms—have met a significant rise in demand as businesses globally scale their AI applications.

Dr. Feifei Li, President of International Business for Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group, commented on the trend, stating, “In 2025, we witnessed enterprises deepening and broadening their use of AI. Businesses around the world are utilizing our AI capabilities, built on a secure, scalable cloud foundation, to reimagine their industries, from AI-driven sustainable mobility to intelligent healthcare and generative content creation.”

Powering Sustainable Mobility and Smart Cities

In Malaysia, Alibaba Cloud has partnered with mobility technology company PRO-NET to accelerate the nation’s transition towards intelligent and sustainable electric vehicles (EVs). By adopting a cloud-first approach, PRO-NET is now advancing its capabilities by using Alibaba Cloud’s Model Studio to develop internal and customer-facing chatbots for vehicle infotainment systems.

“Alibaba Cloud has been a key partner to PRO-NET, and their support…has been instrumental as we advance Malaysia’s new energy mobility ecosystem,” said Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET.

Similarly, Signify, the Netherlands-based world leader in lighting, launched the industry’s first GenAI agent in China powered by Alibaba’s Qwen model. The agent is integrated into Signify’s connected street lighting system, allowing city managers to use natural language commands to deploy AI-driven dimming strategies, reduce energy consumption, and improve maintenance efficiency.

Advancing Regional AI and Healthcare

In Singapore, Alibaba Cloud supported AI Singapore (AISG) in releasing Qwen-SEA-LION-v4, a large language model tailored for the linguistic and cultural nuances of Southeast Asia. Built on Alibaba’s Qwen foundation model, it delivers improved multilingual accuracy and contextual understanding for the region.

“Our collaboration with Alibaba on Qwen-SEA-LION-v4 is an important milestone in advancing AI inclusivity and to make it more representative of Southeast Asia,” said Dr. Leslie Teo, Senior Director of AI Products at AI Singapore.

In Hong Kong, Chinese medicine company PuraPharm and software solutions provider HerbMiners utilized Alibaba’s Qwen3 model to enhance the Traditional Chinese Medicine Advisor (TCMA) platform. The platform now uses advanced NLP to analyze unstructured clinical data, supporting personalized treatment decisions and modernizing TCM practices for a global audience.

Transforming Digital Content Creation

Alibaba Cloud has also formed a strategic partnership with Tokyo-based digital manga developer “and factory” to drive AI adoption within Japan’s manga industry. The collaboration aims to co-develop AI-powered tools for automating background illustration, creating intelligent storyboards, auto-coloring, and translating content, empowering creators and expanding manga’s global reach.

Relevance for the MENA Tech Scene

While these case studies are global, they offer a direct parallel to the strategic priorities of the MENA region. The advancements in smart city management, as seen with Signify, are highly relevant to ambitious giga-projects like Saudi Arabia’s NEOM and the UAE’s Masdar City, which are built on foundations of efficiency and sustainability.

Furthermore, the development of region-specific language models like SEA-LION provides a blueprint for creating sophisticated AI that understands the complexities of Arabic and its various dialects, a critical need for localizing generative AI applications. As MENA’s tech ecosystem pushes for digital transformation across key sectors like healthcare, mobility, and media, the successful integration of AI and cloud infrastructure by global players like Alibaba Cloud serves as a powerful indicator of the opportunities available for regional startups and enterprises.
