Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) hosted the fourth edition of “Software Testing Day,” signaling the country’s strengthening position as a global hub for high-value digital services and software quality engineering. The event, organized by ITIDA’s Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC), gathered international experts and local industry leaders to discuss the rapid evolution of software testing, particularly with the rise of artificial intelligence.
Quick Facts
- Event participation grew nearly four-fold since its launch.
- Over 17,282 ISTQB® certifications issued to Egyptian engineers.
- Launched a new Software Acceptance Testing Guide.
A Maturing Ecosystem on Display
The event’s significant expansion highlights a rising interest in software quality within Egypt’s tech sector. According to ITIDA CEO Eng. Ahmed Elzaher, the growth from 180 participants in 2022 to over 880 from 330 companies in 2025 reflects the industry’s maturity and its strategic importance to Egypt’s global competitiveness.
Elzaher emphasized that the country is solidifying its role as a global destination for digital services, driven by a deep pool of skilled talent and a strategic geographic location that facilitates service delivery to global markets.
AI Shifts Quality From Afterthought to Strategy
In a fireside chat, Elzaher noted that rapid advancements in AI are fundamentally reshaping software development. He explained that quality is no longer a final technical step but has become a strategic principle embedded from the earliest stages of product design.
This shift, he argued, underscores the growing demand for advanced skills and reinforces why multinational companies are expanding their global delivery and AI centers in Egypt, relying on local talent for core digital innovation.
Building a Certified Talent Powerhouse
Dr. Haitham Hamza, Chairman of SECC, presented data showcasing the strength of Egypt’s testing community. The country now boasts over 11,365 internationally certified professionals, with more than 17,282 ISTQB® certifications issued to local engineers.
Notably, 388 professionals have already been certified in the emerging field of Gen-AI testing, demonstrating the local ecosystem’s agility in adopting next-generation quality assurance disciplines. These figures position Egypt as a competitive global player in advanced software quality.
New Guide Aims to Standardize Digital Transformation
On the sidelines of the conference, SECC launched the pilot version of its Software Acceptance Testing Guide. Developed from SECC’s 25 years of experience, the guide provides a unified framework to enhance quality standards across Egypt’s digital transformation projects.
The framework includes over 60 structured guidelines across seven main domains, based on global best practices. It is designed to bring clarity to project requirements, improve execution quality, and accelerate delivery for both public and private sector initiatives.
