Egypt’s AI Talent Sweeps Top Prizes at ITIDA’s Software Testing Competition

4 Min Read

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has concluded its latest software testing competition, revealing a significant trend in Egypt’s tech scene: the rise of AI as a core engine for software quality engineering. Egyptian teams secured every winning position, demonstrating advanced capabilities in AI-driven automation and validation.

Quick Facts

  • Egyptian teams won all prizes in both categories.
  • 128 teams from six countries initially participated.
  • Winning projects focused on AI-powered quality assurance.

AI-Native Tools Emerge from Student Teams

The competition highlighted a new generation of engineers building AI-native testing tools. Among the student winners, QualiaUI developed an AI tool that allows testers to write and execute UI tests using natural language, significantly cutting down on manual work.

Another finalist, Testly, presented an AI platform for API testing that generates and runs test sequences directly from user stories. The third student winner, team M.H.M, created AgentJury, a system that uses multiple LLM “judges” to evaluate AI applications, checking for issues like hallucinations, jailbreaks, and performance regressions after each release.

Enterprise-Grade Automation from Professional Winners

In the professional category, QA Catalyst built a system to manage the entire quality assurance process, from initial requirements to sprint reviews, improving visibility and coverage. Ostrich Team developed an end-to-end flow that uses multiple LLMs for API test case generation and automation scripting, designed for large enterprise environments.

The third professional winner, QBot, is an AI-powered QA assistant built to speed up manual testing activities. The tool generates critical documents like test plans, bug reports, and usability testing assets, boosting productivity while maintaining data security.

A Shift in Egypt’s Engineering Landscape

The dominance of local teams points to a deeper evolution within Egypt’s tech talent pool. The competition, which ran alongside the fourth edition of “Software Testing Day,” drew participants from Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, and beyond, yet all 18 finalists were from Egypt.

“AI is reshaping how we define software quality,” said Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of ITIDA.

“We are seeing a clear shift in how Egyptian engineers are applying artificial intelligence — not only to automate testing, but to rethink software quality itself through more intelligent and scalable approaches,” Elzaher added. “The competition highlights the depth of innovation emerging from our talent ecosystem.”

The event’s 12-member judging panel included international experts from the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB), Sogeti (a Capgemini company), and the Global Association for Software Quality (GASQ), ensuring evaluations met global industry standards.
