A 12-day entrepreneurship and small projects course concluded this week in Aden, Yemen. The program was a joint initiative by the country’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Youth Without Borders Organization for Development, with funding from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The training was part of a broader project to support youth programs through capacity building and skills development.

Government Pledges Support for Youth-Led Ventures
During the closing ceremony, Minister of Youth and Sports Nayef Al-Bakri praised the discipline and strong outcomes demonstrated by the participants. He affirmed the ministry’s commitment to empowering young people and supporting their initiatives.
“This course represents a real step towards turning the ambitious ideas of our youth into a tangible reality in the job market,” Al-Bakri stated. He added that the ministry’s focus on economic and knowledge-based empowerment stems from the belief that “investing in the capabilities of young people is the real investment for the nation’s future, and the main pillar for reducing unemployment and driving sustainable development.”
Al-Bakri also highlighted the importance of the partnership with the UNFPA and the Youth Without Borders Organization in creating an environment that encourages innovation and supports new ventures.
UNFPA Highlights Strategic Partnership to Build Resilience
Francesco Galtieri, the UNFPA Representative in Yemen, spoke on the strategic value of the collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which aims to open new opportunities for young Yemenis.
“The UNFPA is proud of its strategic partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports,” said Galtieri. “Empowering young men and women with entrepreneurship skills not only contributes to improving their livelihoods but is also a cornerstone in building more resilient, stable, and prosperous communities.”
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to the program’s participants.
