A Push for Syria’s Digital Transformation
The “Modern Commerce Leaders” initiative marks a significant step in developing Syria’s e-commerce infrastructure by equipping local talent with necessary skills. The program is designed to guide participants through the process of building effective online stores, professionally listing their products, and creating market-ready strategies.
Mohammed Haroush, General Manager of ROVO, stated that the initiative aims to qualify a new generation of Syrian professionals in the e-commerce sector. He noted that Zid, which specializes in creating and managing online stores, is now available in the Syrian market as part of its expansion to support regional digital growth.
Bridging Syrian Businesses to Gulf Markets
The core of the initiative is a comprehensive training program designed to select 200 startup founders and early-stage entrepreneurs from across all Syrian governorates.
“The agreement marks the start of a training project implemented across Syrian governorates, leveraging the reach of our local chambers,” said Samia Sarkis, President of JCI Syria, in a statement to SANA. She emphasized the goal of professionally equipping participants to enter the e-commerce field.
According to Sarkis, the program consists of 11 hybrid sessions, combining in-person workshops with online training led by experts from the Zid platform. The curriculum covers key areas such as e-marketing, marketing content creation, and online store management, with a clear objective to prepare Syrian products for export to foreign markets, including Saudi Arabia.
From Training to Trade
The initiative extends beyond education, aiming to create tangible commercial opportunities. The entire training process will be documented through media content, culminating in a final conference in Damascus.
At this closing event, the most market-ready products from the cohort will be showcased within the Zid ecosystem. This final step is designed to directly promote and facilitate trade opportunities between Syrian businesses and the Saudi Arabian market.
