Building In-House Expertise for Sharjah’s SME Sector
According to Dr. Hoda Saleh Al Khayyal, Head of Training Programs at Ruwwad, the program is a key initiative aimed at strengthening Sharjah’s entrepreneurship ecosystem. The primary objective is to build a cohort of qualified national talent capable of transferring entrepreneurial knowledge and providing practical support to local SMEs.
“The program aims to build national competencies capable of transferring entrepreneurial knowledge and providing practical support to owners of small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs,” Dr. Al Khayyal told Sharjah 24. This support is intended to help founders develop their projects, navigate challenges, and capitalize on opportunities within the business environment.
Fostering a Culture of Innovation From Within
The decision to invest in government employees reflects a broader strategy by the Emirate of Sharjah to embed a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within both the government system and the wider community.
Dr. Al Khayyal added that training government staff as entrepreneurship ambassadors supports efforts to grow the SME sector, which is recognized as a vital engine for economic development in Sharjah and the wider UAE. By creating a direct link of mentorship and guidance from within the government, the initiative aims to build a more integrated and supportive ecosystem for new ventures.
