Amazon Web Services (AWS) has reported damage to data center infrastructure in Bahrain following regional conflict-related incidents, underscoring the physical risks geopolitical instability poses to critical digital systems.
The company said it implemented mitigation measures to maintain service continuity for customers. AWS operates highly redundant infrastructure, including geographically distributed regions, availability zones and automated failover systems, which are designed to limit the impact of localized outages or damage.
The incident highlights the growing importance of data centers to national infrastructure.
