SpaceX has completed its acquisition of Anysphere, the company behind AI coding platform Cursor, in a deal valued at about $60B. Cursor is now wholly owned by SpaceX, according to the companies’ announcement.
The transaction closed on August 14, 2026, around two months after SpaceX and Cursor announced plans to proceed with the acquisition. The all-stock deal involved approximately 389.29 million SpaceX Class A shares for Cursor shareholders.
Cursor said becoming part of SpaceX will give it access to the company’s computing infrastructure, including what it described as the world’s largest GPU fleet. The additional capacity is expected to support the development and operation of more powerful AI models while potentially lowering costs.
The companies began working together in April on model training, before SpaceX committed to the acquisition in June. Cursor also contributed engineering expertise and training-related data to the development of Grok 4.5 and Grok 4.6, according to the announcement.
The deal adds an AI software and developer-focused business to SpaceX’s broader technology portfolio, which includes Grok models and large-scale computing infrastructure. Cursor competes in the AI coding market with tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
