Egypt is accelerating the digital transformation of its justice system, with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reviewing progress on the Justice City project, electronic court management, digital notarisation and a shared data platform for judicial entities.
The review took place in New Alamein City with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Justice Minister Mahmoud Helmy El-Sherif. Officials discussed the Justice City’s digital infrastructure and applications, with the project intended to create an integrated environment for judicial services in the New Administrative Capital.
The Ministry of Justice is also expanding notarisation services through cooperation protocols with the National Bank of Egypt and Banque Misr. The agreements will support 11 premium notarisation branches within each bank, alongside mobile notarisation vehicles and new branches in Sohag and Minya. The latter offer remote services through the “I Want to Make a Power of Attorney” application.
A new electronic platform for criminal court proceedings is being introduced to support case management and reduce backlogs. Egypt has also signed its Unified Digital Justice Strategy and launched a Collaborative Data Platform for Judicial Entities and Bodies to improve secure information sharing across the judicial system.
The reforms come ahead of the new Criminal Procedure Law, scheduled to take effect on 1 October 2026. El-Sisi stressed that digitalisation must be matched by strong cybersecurity and digital sovereignty safeguards for sensitive legal data.
