Athar Accelerator is inviting applications for the Upper Egypt AI Hackathon, a three-day event in Assiut focused on turning artificial intelligence ideas into practical solutions for sectors including healthcare, education, fintech, energy, agriculture and mobility.
The hackathon will take place from September 10 to 12, 2026, with applications closing on August 25. Participants will work on rapid prototypes, validate their ideas and receive guidance from AI, product and go-to-market experts. They will also have opportunities to connect with investors, partners and entrepreneurship leaders.
The program is open to founders, engineers, developers, designers, researchers and students building scalable AI solutions. Teams must include three to five members from Upper Egypt governorates, at least one technical member, and participants must be Egyptian nationals aged 18 to 35. Applicants must also not have previously participated in a Plan International program.
The winning team will receive a total prize of EGP 50,000. The hackathon is being delivered as part of the Ready for Tomorrow project, with support from Plan International Egypt.
