Otech, Omantel’s technology subsidiary, and Omani AI startup DeepAstra have launched the DeepAstra API, a locally hosted platform that gives businesses and developers access to multiple AI models through one interface.
Users can connect once, test different models and pay based on usage. The platform is designed to support data security, governance and compliance requirements while giving institutions greater control over access and permissions.
The service provides access to open-source AI models and is aimed at institutions, companies, developers and small and medium-sized enterprises. According to the announcement, local hosting allows Omani SMEs to use sovereign AI without building their own computing infrastructure or integrating each model separately.
Under the partnership, Otech is responsible for local availability and institutional adoption, while DeepAstra provides the unified interface and model management technology.
Founded in 2025, DeepAstra is part of the NVIDIA Inception Program and secured a strategic investment earlier this year from the Oman Future Fund through Omantel Ventures. Otech officially launched in February 2026 as Omantel’s technology subsidiary.
The launch comes as Oman develops national AI capabilities, including the Mu’een large language model, an AI Studio and a National Open Data Portal under its National Programme for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Digital Technologies.
